Should I Build an Email List for my Company?
The short answer is yes.
The short explanation is that an email list, when built properly, is a free traffic source that you can use again and again to make sales.
The short evidence is that in the 16 years I have worked in online marketing, 60-70% of new revenue was generated directly from the email list.
But… why?
Readiness to buy
The reality is that only a tiny fraction of your market is ready to buy at this exact moment.
But, even though people are not ready to buy, they still research and read about things they intend to buy in the future.
Depending on what that thing is, people can research up to one year before they are ready to purchase.
Think about what that means for a second…
If someone, for example, researched a potential buying decision for 12 months before they are ready, it means they have had many, many research sessions.
During their research session, they find your content. They like it.
Then they move on…
At this point, you have lost an opportunity to “keep” that person in your world.
Keep them in your world
The reason that people use Facebook or Google ads is to “stay in front of their ideal customers”. For that privilege, you pay.
But when you capture the person browsing into an email list, you now have one new person you can keep in your world.
Now, you might be thinking… “wow, all that work just to keep one person?”.
Yes.
Because “all that work” only needs to be done once. When you build a marketing website that includes all the Lead Gen Vitals, you have everything you need to keep potential buyers in your world.
“But… email doesn’t work for my company”
Usually, when I work with a new client, especially if they are NOT an online company, they cannot see the value of email.
But “email” or “email marketing” is not important.
The only thing that matters is building a FREE sales channel that you can OWN, USE and USE AGAIN.
The only channels I know of that have these qualities are email list building and email marketing.
